Next in the queue

Here's a glimpse of my next project, Marfy 9810.

This is my lame version of a muslin (but it works for me!) Since I abhor wasting precious time on sewing and (even worse) cutting a muslin, I just added 1" seam allowances instead of 5/8". However, since the fabric is a bit sheer (chiffon) and very nice (from Sawyer Brook), I didn't want to mess around too much with fitting as I go, so I pinned the main pieces together and tried it on. Took 5 minutes and worked like a charm. Yes, it fits well without alteration, yes it fits over my head without a zipper, and yes, it shall be all kinds of fabulous!

White denim pants

Phew, first new thing in too long! Anyway, these are my white denim pants from Vogue 2700, kind of.
I've made those pants a few times before, but I couldn't find the front pattern piece this time. :-( I improvised with another pattern and they came out ok. There is some stretch in this white denim, so I had to take out quite a bit on the side seams. They still not as "skinny" as I really wanted, but frankly, the crotch curve doesn't fit well enough for me to try to make them any tighter. I do think they look cute with this top, though, which is what I really wanted.

The back pockets are just traced from my favorite jeans.

I took these pics at the end of the day, too, and they did bag out and wrinkle a bit.

My Me-Made-May

Did you hear about this?

I confess this is a blog that I hadn't read before I saw this fun-ness highlighted on someone else's blog, but I'm excited to join in! Zoe spent March wearing only clothes that she made herself. For May, she has invited others to join in. I'm going the lite route - I only have to wear one piece I made every day for the month. I don't have enough summer bottoms I've made to feel comfortable going all out. I think it will be challenging enough to dig out some of my created pieces that aren't in the current rotation.

Plus, it will soon be too warm for this, which I am wearing to death and have on right now! Good thing I'm working on some lightweight denim pants right now - very important for May this year, so I hear!

Tweedy Goodness

Here are the tweeds I purchased from Linton on my trip through England to Scotland. Considering that Linton makes a lot of Chanel's tweeds, they were reasonably priced. The ones I really liked, conveniently, were on the sale rack. They were a bit lower priced, but are only in 1 meter cuts, so that limits my options for making them up.

This is black and white for a pencil skirt for fall.

These two dusty green ones pair well, so I want to combine them somehow to make a little Chanel-style jacket.

I looooove the color of this - kind of yellowy peach. I want to make a spring/summer short sleeved jacket out of this.

I'm not sure what this is for. It would make a nice pencil skirt or maybe a sheath dress. Probably not enough for a winter jacket. :-(

And since it seems like eons since I posted something I made, here is a pic of me wearing something (not new) yesterday. I realize looking back that the original pics were blurry, so it's good I put up a new one. :-)

Wall art for Paul's room

This is a little paper craft I did for my older son's room. The colors match his quilt-in-progress (the top is done!!), and the pictures are from accompanying quilted accessories in the book. I used scrapbook paper to make these and added the letters of Paul's name. These are now mounted above his headboard. As soon as I get that quilt done, I'll put up some pictures of his whole room.

My super fantastic road trip!

I ran out of time to post here before I left, but I've been lucky to take a two-week road trip around England and Scotland. I'll be back home in two days, anxious to show off my (too) many purchases from Linton Tweeds!
